Region: Umbria, Italy

Orvieto is one of Italy’s best known white wines and accounts for approximately three fourths of the appellation wine produced in the Umbria region (Orvieto Classico appellation). The label of the bottle shows a view of the Orvieto Cathedral from an engraving from the 19th Century. This wine is a blend of 40% Procanico, 40% Grechetto, 15% Verdello and 5% Drupeggio and Malvasia. It is fermented and stored in stainless steel. 12.0% alcohol. It is medium-bodied with a straw yellow appearance, and aromas and flavors of white fruits and honeysuckle, and a smooth buttery finish.  Although this blend is typical for the wine region where produced, it was a new experience for me.
