Region: Valle de Guatalupe, Mexico
This was a gift from my son and his new wife that they brought back from their honeymoon, so I definitely needed to include it here. The Monte Xanic Winery is located in the Guadalupe Valley, located 18 miles inland from the city of Ensenada on the Baja California peninsula. The valley is home to a unique Mediterranean microclimate, ideal for winemaking activities. This wine is 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Syrah. It is medium to full bodied, fairly dry, medium tannins, with a lighter color than expected. Aromas and flavors of black cherry and hints tobacco. 13.9% alcohol. This wine was great with tacos, and just as nice alone the next day.
