Fish House, Peoria IL
My first, but definitely not last, visit to The Fish House in Peoria IL was extremely enjoyable. Not only was my entire family present (a party of nine), but the food, service, and atmosphere was excellent.
The Fish House, which was established in 1976, has a rustic look that accentuates the seafood related menu and decor.
The menu of course is mainly comprised of a wide variety of seafood fare, but there are also steak, chicken, and pasta items. My family had no problem finding satisfying selections, other than just the problem of deciding.
Our server was excellent. She took time to discuss menu items and extra care in addressing food allergies for a toddler in our group. She was not alone in the excellent service. Other wait staff constantly made rounds to clear dishes and refresh water. All were extremely professional and kind.
The menu includes a very nice selection of wines. I have had many of them before, and chose the White Haven Sauvignon Blanc, which paired nicely with my food choices.
For appetizers we tried the Calamari Fritti, Fried Alligator, and I definitely could not pass up the Connecticut Blue Point Oysters on the half-shell. My entrees included the Seared Tuna with their amazing coleslaw. Both were excellent. You can check out the menus on their website.
This was a Sunday evening dinner, so I have not yet visited the Lounge or Fresh Seafood Market, where you can purchase fresh seafood, their dinner rolls, and other food items. I will.
